Sonya Mo from Events by Sonya shared her insight with us on the wedding industry. She has a booming wedding and special events business based in San Diego and her clients aren’t afraid to shower their love for her services. Events by Sonya, which was founded by Sonya Mo became a reality after Sonya planned her own wedding and fell in love with the process of planning and organizing. The concept and design becoming a reality along with the finer background details like sourcing and organizing the team of wedding vendors sparked a passion for events that inspired Sonya to make this industry her future. Paired with her love of helping others, Sonya’s skills are put to good use ensuring that every couple’s day goes according to plan and is exactly what they always dreamed of. As every couple is unique, so is every wedding and Sonya takes the time to get to know each of her couple’s personally so as to ensure that all the details are just right and the day is a memorable one.
Sonya’s skill set extends to both the elaborate or the intimate wedding and her and her team work tirelessly to ensure that all the finer details are catered to so that their couples can enjoy the day stress-free. Events by Sonya’s services include design, planning, coordination and execution and they will walk the distance with you to create your dream wedding. When embarking on a new wedding or event, Sonya takes the time to understand her couple’s vision. This includes getting to know the couple, their cultural background, the style’s they would like to add to their big day as well as the traditions and small details that will make their day even more special. Not only does Sonya work to perfect the event in design and décor details but it’s a priority to ensure that both parties feel completely stress-free and can enjoy their big day making memories, leaving her and her team to take care of the background planning.
“I work hard to make sure that every detail is executed as planned, whether that is in the set-up of the event, sticking to the timeline, or making sure that the family members are well taken care of.”
Although the company is based in San Diego, they have planned and coordinated weddings in Los Angeles as well as the San Francisco Bay Area. They’re branching out to wider locations too as they’ll be planning a destination wedding in Hawaii this year.
As for trends, Sonya loves to experiment with colors and textures. This is one way to add a little variation and excitement to a wedding. Another fantastic trend Sonya is making use of is that of beautiful, overflowing whimsical bouquets. Florals are such an integral part of any wedding and can often even set the tone of the event. Geometric patterns are among her favorite Pinterest ogles and the addition of a cute puppy is an idea she loves playing with.
Sonya doesn’t simply follow the trends, though. When she sets out on planning a wedding, she enjoys the process of learning about the different cultural wedding traditions. Incorporating these details into the wedding is a highlight for her. From traditional wedding gowns to special ceremonies, she enjoys infusing her concepts with these elements to ensure that the couple’s day is absolutely unique.
