Jennifer Bunce-Timmons is our cake master and industry expert for today. We feel so honored to have been given the chance to chat with her about her gorgeous upscale bespoke cakes that she creates for weddings and all kinds of events.
The Hudson Cakery creates cakes that taste as good as they look and all of their cakes look absolutely amazing. They’ve set themselves a standard and bake all of their cakes from scratch. This is a prime opportunity for them to pour all of their passion and love for what they do into their work, which is exactly why their cakes taste extra delicious. All of their designs are to specifications for events, which means that your personal tastes will be reflected in the cake’s design.
Jennifer paved her way into the wedding industry by simply connecting with event planners and venues in the area. Through samples of her delicious cakes, she formed some amazing relations and one thing led to another. Taste is everything, as Jennifer mentions in her interview and it certainly helps that her website gallery is filled up with a huge array of amazing cakes of all shapes and sizes to drool over. The Hudson Cakery books up months in advance for their busiest wedding months between March and July, so it’s always a good idea to sample way ahead of time. It’s also a testament to their awesome talents.
"Taste is everything."
Browsing through their gallery, you’ll immediately notice that they have a variety of styles, tackling cakes for events like baby showers, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, special occasions. They’ve also got a tantalizing sweet treats section filled with all kinds of mouthwatering goodies.
Jennifer’s work is professional, however, she adds a lovely personal touch to her interactions with her clients and has a heart-warming smile that shows off her friendly approach to her clients. Her pride and joy is the shop, built by many hours of hard work and dedication to the craft. After being featured in the New York Times roughly six years ago while still working in a catering facility and garnering a bit of attention from the article, Jennifer opened her own bakery in 2011, just 8 months after that. It’s success 6 years down the line is what fills Jennifer with pride when she thinks of how much has gone into building this beautiful business.
The Hudson Cakery will be featured in a reality cake show, airing sometime in 2017, which is rather exciting for both the business and the viewers as it will be a treat to watch them in action.
With regards to trends, Jennifer is loving the gold trend. Gold is very versatile and pairs well with just about any color. A trend that has picked up this year in her designs is the bigger, dramatic cakes with gorgeous sugar flowers as more and more clients are requesting this type of cake. The naked cake is also still in high demand as couples are still planning those beautiful rustic weddings.
Jennifer’s work is absolutely awe-inspiring and it’s worth the time spent ogling at her cake creations on her website. You can find them in her gallery but I’ll leave you with a sneak peak from each section. Enjoy.
