Hollie Milburn, owner of Fleur Couture in England is behind the stunning floral arrangements for weddings and big events pictured in this write-up. Hollie, who has always been inspired by flowers and wedding styling, went on to study floristry and found that her passion for this business was less about flowers and more about the way flowers behave when arranged with interesting elements. The life of Hollie Milburn’s work lies in her dedication and appetite for creative communication through flowers, arrangements, and design elements that are inspired by so many things around her.
Fleur Couture has become a successful wedding vendor based in the Biscuit Factory in Newcastle. This part of Newcastle is a creative hub filled with like-minded professionals and serves as the company’s headquarters, although, the company sees clients at their studio by appointment only. This team of two is often accompanied by freelancers for bigger weddings and events and go all out to make any kind of flower arrangement and wedding décor that a bride can think of sparkle with flair.
Fleur Couture’s calling card is wedding floral design and their portfolio is spectacular. Along with all things wedding and flowers, they offer venue styling and décor as well, making them a one-stop vendor for wedding décor and design. Hollie is enthusiastic about her work and refers to herself as a total “workaholic”. The company offers high-end styling at cost-effective prices and she works with the best of the best to ensure that her brides are always happy with their floral details and styling elements.
Service to Hollie is more like creating a friendship and she’ll go the extra mile to ensure that her couples are happy, and feel satisfied that they are getting everything they wanted and more. The wedding business is always a personal one and Hollie builds great relationships with her clients by really getting to know them on a personal level. Added extras like personalized mood boards and sketches are used to ensure that the couples always know what they’re getting and to keep them well-informed and feeling as valued as they are to Hollie and Fleur Couture.
While Fleur Couture definitely has a signature style, Hollie does stress the fact that they don’t like to be pigeonholed into a certain look and feel. Any style is attainable and part of the creative process at Fleur Couture. With that said, many of their clients enjoy the luxury of the floral styling that Fleur Couture offers and tend to opt for richness in their designs.
When asked about her favorite color trends, Hollie mentioned that she loves so many of the current styles that it’s just impossible to name only one, or even a few! Inspiration tends to find her wherever she is and even something like a tattoo can provide the creative motivation needed to fashion one of her beautiful designs. In Hollie’s words: “I did a styled shoot the other day where I used lots of wild foliage mixed with dark and pale blooms and even a (fake!) goat skull which I loved. Dark but still luxe looking. That one was inspired by a tattoo!”
Despite being a relatively new company (only 4 years on the go), Fleur Couture has experienced two very distinct accolades. The company was named one of the UK’s top wedding florists in an online blog and have also been made a recommended supplier for one of the area’s top venues. While the work is challenging, it’s a challenge Hollie enjoys and rises to every day with a renewed vigor, never taking for granted the accomplishments the company has experienced.
