Abby Turner, owner and event designer of the cutting edge Reed & Lee | Events and Weddings, chatted a bit about her business with us recently in an interview. This event design and planning company not only puts events together but creates them with a definite goal in mind, keeping the clients at the heart of every design.

Their social events and weddings are stunning and one of the biggest calling cards of this company is their dedication to keeping the couple’s vision in mind. While they do keep track of trends, as well as budget constraints, they go above and beyond to be professional as well as deliver exactly what the couple had in mind. Abby, who was working full time when Reed & Lee was formed, had been planning events as a hobby for quite some time. The Reed & Lee vision and mission was based on organization, a strong work ethic, and creativity and Abby added the wedding services when she saw that there was a need for it in the community. She had a dream and she reached for it and is now fostering that dream with every new wedding and event that Reed & Lee books.

As they say, first impressions count and my first impression of this company (through their website) is that they have a good and solid plan for their business that drives their success. In fact, part of their success is derived from the intensive team collaboration that Reed & Lee is based on. At the core of the business is a team of 5 lead designers with over 20 years of collective experience. Reed & Lee’s clients can expect specialized services spearheaded by each of the company’s lead planners. Abby stresses how important the team collaboration is and credits it for the ability to offer more efficient and creative events.

Her team is also one of the things she is most proud of in her business and Abby mentions that as she looks back, after nine years in business, she has always surrounded herself with team members who really bring the best of themselves to the table and continually add to the business’s value. For Abby, it’s a pleasure to invest in her team and it's enjoyable facing the business challenges together. From 5-day events with high priority clients to small events, her team makes it all worthwhile.

I’m always reminded how lucky we are to have so many talented individuals featuring on our blog and Reed & Lee’s professional portfolio is definitely something to get excited about. It’s clear that Abby’s love for minimalism, geometrics, and art-inspired design in terms of trends shines through her work but at the end of the day, her portfolio is literally a snapshot of each client’s personal taste and character (as well as that of her guests).

When we asked Abby what trends she was following, she mentioned that Textures and unique colors in linens were making her happy this year. Elegance, a stunning atmosphere and happy guests and couples are the greatest trends that she follows, though.
